ZOOM

ZOOM is a group experience, designed for people who are being led to involve themselves in God's passion for people in an urban setting. ZOOM offers the opportunity to make a difference through serving ministries in South Minneapolis. The ZOOM experience will be filled with teaching and reflecting time, as well as service to ministries directly involved in people's lives in the city, including Urban Ventures itself.

ZOOM opportunities are available year-long.

Life Coaches for Kids

Approximately 56% of the children that participate in Urban Ventures programs come from father-absent homes. For these children, their chances of being extremely poor are ten times higher than normal. Seventy-two percent of adolescent murderers are from father-absent homes. Eighty-five percent of all youth in prison are from father-absent homes.

The statistics are mind-boggling. Yet as they paint a picture of despair, grief, and loss, they also outline the path to hope. If these children can be connected with a caring adult, the numbers can be turned around. Children connected with a mentor for a minimum of one year are:

• More trusting of parents or guardians.
• 52% less likely to skip a day of school.
• More motivated to go to college
• 59% more likely to improve their grades
• Less likely to become pregnant
• 46% less likely to start using illegal drugs

Urban Ventures partners with Life Coaches for Kids to connect a caring adult with a father-absent child. As a Life Coaches for Kids mentor, you will have a profound impact on the life of a child.
